Today we will begin class by getting into our groups and discussing the possibilities of a community garden. We were to begin our discussion on Monday of how we can survey our community to see if a community garden is needed in this area and to assess how many people might possibly use the spot. We want to create a document to record our thoughts and ideas. I will show a short powerpoint of pictures of the Manhattan Community Garden and explain the overall idea and concept of this program. The power point will be loaded below on the link.
During the second part of class we will look at beginning our information over the Forestry unit. The Forestry unit will cover trees and their importance but through this study we will learn about the process of photosynthesis and the importance of plants in carbon dioxide consumption and the role of plants in the carbon dioxide cycle.
